Hello! My name is Paige and I just finished majors in Physical Geography and Climate and Environment Science at UC Santa Barbara. I hope to earn a Ph.D. in Physical Oceanography and spend as much time as possible sailing the oceans for science. (see science page) I am a new resident of Los Angeles, and now a graduate student at UCLA! My dream of a Ph.D. in oceanography is on its way to becoming true 🙂
I am continuing my tutoring practice on the West side of LA, focusing on math and science. The hours I am able to spend with students every week are just as fun and insightful as they were when I first began a serious tutoring job in my sophomore year of college. (Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about being a tutor or if you are looking for tutoring! I also remotely tutor students over Skype.)
Outside of work and academics, I have too many interests to list! I love swimming, water polo, golfing, camping, bodysurfing, hiking, picnicking, and basically any excuse I can get to go outside. Oh- and I love tap dancing. Thankfully, I have a great group of friends crazy enough to join me on my adventures. When I am inside, I am writing or reading. My insane love of planning and organization led to my ETSY store, Fiat Lux Planning, and inspired me to post more about my student habits on this blog.
This past year, I was a scientific visitor at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, working on the National Security Applications Program. In this program, I was working for the GIS team. We tackled any number of GIS-related issues, ranging from optimization of NCAR’s GIS resources to individual grants in collaboration with universities worldwide. I feel incredibly lucky to have had the opportunity to work with so many incredible minds right out of my college education!
If all that wasn’t enough, here’s a little more information:
